Not a hard use knife or anything not for batoning or chopping.i want something to have as a backup to my fixed blades for doing little things like whittling or prepping small sticks for use when I fish, you know for anchoring down my crab traps and bait tank lines.

I would prefer a folder just simply because it's a lot easier to carry and I don't have to wear a belt witch sometimes I don't or I wear over allls and it makes getting to my fixed blade a pain. Any suggestions?

Since you will be in a salt water environment at times, I can only think of a Spyderco Tasman Salt, or the Saver Salt series in H1 rust proof steel; about $60.00 for either one.

^^^^^^ This... Or if you like the toothpick and tweezers and a couple extra tools, like I do. The Vic Hiker is a great choice as well.

Precisely. I LOVE the toothpick and tweezers that the Farmer doesn't have. :grumpy: I guess you could always back it up with a Vic Classic!

+1 for the Ontario RAT 1; very simple, effective design, built like a tank, and inexpensive enough so you won't cry if it falls overboard).
