Out enjoying the last warm day here in the mtns

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful location! Don't blame you for not wanting to ride in 17* weather. I don't even get out in 17* weather any more unless I just have to. One of the perks of being old and retired!:D I do miss those mountains in N.C., having driven them extensively when I was an over the road truck driver. Thanks for the memories.

I'm somewhat older too. Gone are the days when I'd ride in freezing temps. Big wind+freezing temps=Too cold. The wind burns on any exposed flesh.. If not electric gloves, the hands WILL get uncomfortably cold.. Tires don't stick as well.. And also ride harsher in general.. Spend 20 minutes getting dressed/undressed at both ends of a given ride.. And did I mention its just to cold? Nowadays, unless I just need to ride because its been too long, anything below 55-60 when in the wind is too cold. I'll wait.
 
What city in WNC are you in? I live in Sylva growing up, then in Franklin. I miss the fall colors back there.

Robbinsville. One of the last vestiges of true mtn life. Zero 4 lanes(yet). 4 stoplights in the entire county. 8k population. A traffic jam here is when the HS lets out for 10 minutes. 1 high school(combined w middle school). Lots of Indians, which them and a couple Hispanics are the only minorities. Almost zero crime. 80% of the county is US Forest service wilderness lands. And we have the Moonshiners show lol. A good friend of mine just became a reg on that show(Wayne. he'll be Jim Toms protege this season).

That's cool, you're about half-an-hour to an hour west of where I lived.

Beautiful roads and wilderness.

Yesterday was our first chilly day of the season. A brisk low to mid 60s during the day then a chilly 54 at night. I know that it is pleasant weather but in Florida that's about the threshold where the flip flops, tee shirts, and shorts start to disappear and jeans and jackets start to come out. Was quite a nice change.
