For the first time in a long time my wife had two days off in a row, so we decided to go to Kankakee River State Park to do a little exploring. This is a beautiful area about 25 miles south of us, the scenery rivals Starved Rock Park. Here are a few photos from our day out.

Great pics  Old graveyards are really interesting for some strange reason to me.

Thanks for sharing.

STOMPER,
I grew up fishing Rock Creek, love it and the pics bring back great memories. Small Mouth Bass all day long!!!!! I almost drown in there when I slipped on a rock and the wiast high waiters I barrowed from my dad(with out asking) filled up and took me under.I held on to my pole though. The water snakes ain't no joke either. Thank for the pics

Looks a great place place to visit John and great weather to boot !

Any canine friends go with ya ?

Old cemeteries are really weird for me.

Oh well, thanks for sharing, John.

I find them quite peaceful places to explore. I even go as far as to attempt to right toppled stones, clear weeds from markers and fill in sunken graves.
I stop at Irish Hollow Cemetery outside Rockland, Michigan every time i'm up there. Pay my respects and spruce things up a bit.
Call me weird but I'd like it done for me when i'm gone.

Ah the mid-west....I miss the Lightening Bugs and Chiggers! Okay, I don't miss the Chiggers but post a photo of the Lightening Bugs!!! I miss them little guys. Lived out there for a couple years going to Grad School...couldn't wait to get back to the Pac NorthWet. I do miss spring and fall tho...

Say, thanks for posting the photos of the cemetery...I just hope a 100 years from now someone walks by my lonely grave and reads my name and ponders for a moment what I did, how I lived and who I was...

Nice pics John. It was cool being able to pick out almost every spot you posted.

Thanks for sharing!
