Out for a walk in the back w the dog. Nice mild day here. I enjoy looking at other people's pics so thought I'd snap a few for here. Took a walk to test some gear and see how it carried. Choice for fire starting was a Zippo and some birch bark. Not too challenging. Also wanted to break the cherry on the Klean Canteen. Still a little undecided if I'm going to stick w the shoulder bag or go back to my Badlands Super Day pack.

That hasn't happened in a few years. As far as I recall we've always had at least a week of snow every year.. I guess I shouldn't say we anymore:) Been pretty mild here as well from what everyone is saying. I was in Lake Cowichan for about 15 years till a couple years ago. In Victoria for 5-10 years before lake cow. Before that in Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba. After moving to the island didn't think I'd miss winter but it's nice to have it again. Cheers

Good looking dog there!! Knows where to sit to keep warm!! :D John

Yep he's a good companion. 10 years old and still full of energy

I like the saw. It's a Silky Super Accel 21. Cuts nice and is well made.

It's my most carried saw. I bought my first Silky, a PocketBoy, about ten years ago and temporarily lost it. I then bought two of the Super Accel 210, and it became my favorite for hiking, etc. because of its relative lightweight and excellent performance. I've bought some big Silkys for farming, woodworking, landscaping, and specific projects in the woods, but my main two hiking saws are the Super Accel 210 (about 7oz.) and the Ultra Accel 240 (curved blade, about 10oz.).

Thanks all:)

I did a bit of comparing reviews before getting the silky. Had it for a year or so and I'm very happy with it. Was also recommended by a friend who does a lot of pruning. It's almost time to find a file for the blade. Any recommendations?

A Stihl dealer will have an ARS or Feather Edge file made for Silky-type saws or you can order them online from one of the forestry or arborist sales sites. If you have a needle file set around, use that. Either way, it's not an expensive tool to buy if you want to do it yourself. I have tried it and can do an almost satisfactory job, but I have a friend who's brother is a forester. He can make them run like brand new in a few minutes.
