I went on a dogsled camping trip last week outside Ely, MN. Noticed that the two guides did all their wood processing with saws. One saw was a nondescript bow saw and the other was a Silky Zubat.
Seemed like the Silky was by far the more efficient.
What's been the experience of you clever folks?

Silky makes some of the best saws going and you can get several types of replacement blades. I have a Pocketboy that I carry a lot.--KV

Another Silky Pocketby fan.

They're draw saws. Takes some practice. Only cut on the draw stroke, otherwise you can bend a blade.

When you adjust to work with it, they fly through branches, as you witnessed.

I tend to carry the Silky before the fixed blade.

I will shave up a bi of tinder and split up a bit of kindling , but after that , for firewood .. there isnt a lot of cutting involved at all .
Im lazy and Ill kick the wood in as it burns away rather than keep adding more neat cut to length bits.

Now at home where my fire in a box heater will only take wood that is so long x so wide , yeah I saw it to length , but again Im lazy , I use a chain saw
