Out of curiousity, what is your favourite size?

If you were left with/had to pick just one gso, which size/model would that be?

I personally like smaller-medium knives so i would stick with a 6 or 4.1

4.1 is my next to purchase once they are on sale again, i consistently read and hear peoplr rave about them like no other gso (except maybe the 5.1)

Any of the mid size blades work for me. The name of the company is Survive!Knives and I think that is a label for the customers not the owners as I don't think any of us can own only 1 Survive!Knife -

I am sitting at Starbucks having my breakfast pondering this one. I can't come up with a final answer.

I only have 2 GSOs in my possession and about 3 times that many on preorder.

So practically speaking many of us are in a similar spot so have little choice at this point, and everything may change when the models are in hand. Speaking for myself I know that the ones I'm waiting most for have not arrived.

But theoretically speaking it might be the 10. Guy designed this as his "if I had only one knife" and out of respect to him as a designer and creator, I think I should get one and hang the title of last to go on it.

After having in order of purchase; A 5.1, 10, 3.5, Necker II then a 4.1. Then selling the 5.1, 4.1 and 3.5 I'm preordering a 6.

The 4.1 was awesome yet I have a LT Wright Genesis I have filled that position with.

The 5.1 also awesome yet didn't get as much use and the choil was nice yet not needed, well by me anyway.

The 3.5 was a steak knife at home and a local guy offered good coin for it.

From the blades I have had for me the GSO 6 is a do all. Big enough yet not GSO 10 big. A true if ya had only one knife in the survival situation, bug out etc etc well any knife is better than none yet grab a GSO 6 in 3v before you go.....

I suspect my choice would be either the 5.1, 6, or 7/7. But I could not narrow it further than that until I have something in hand other than just the 5.1.

I have come to agree with you and hence why I preordered a GSO 6.

I am now in receipt of both my GSO 5.1 purchased as Factory 2nds. I'll be selling the 20CV version on the auction site soon and I'll wait for my 4.7 which I ordered also as a Factory 2nd (3V). If I happen to make do with this one in the meantime, I will also be selling off the GSO 5.1 3V before I lo$e out on it by using it too much.

Unfortunately I had an accident with a kitchen knife this past Saturday and almost lopped off the 1/2 of my left index! After severing one side of the V shaped tendon and knowing that my left index will never be as good as original, I have instinctively decided that I don't want my index fingers anywhere near a lethally sharp blade (luckily I'm right handed) but for batoning I hold the knife in left and baton with right. Currently my motto being: "No gloving, no batoning!" The other things fellas and ladies, be very cognizant of using lanyards! They look very cool as decoration and can be useful in chopping by choking back, but one moment of carelessness may end up in a lifetime of regret or worse. I have since removed any and all lanyards from all knives.

Lesson learned and I am not twice shy about placing any fingers near any blade! (remember that none of this unfortunate accident was due to any fault with a GSO, just my foolish carelessness with a semi-sharp kitchen knife as I got too cocky)

For real world use in a fixed blade I like the 4-5 inch range the best. I have a gso 4.1 and a 4.7 on order. I have larger blades and yes they are better for splitting wood and chopping, but for most other tasks they don't work so well for me. Large blades don't carry well on a belt for me either. At the end of the day i'd rather go with my ax and a smaller knife.

Casino, can you please explain your thought on the lanyard and how they can be dangerous? I am curious. I thought they were there for the opposite reason
