Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you all know that I was discharged today from the hospital, and I'm feeling pretty good! I was supposed to be discharged yesterday, but I had a procedure in the morning that caused way more pain than anticipated, so they kept me overnight on IV drugs. It was better by today, so off I go!
Funny how a couple weeks in the hospital can make a difference. I had several major procedures and a good amount of physical and occupational therapy, and I leave with a wheelchair and walker being a big part of my life. In the next few months, I'll continue my PT and OT outpatient and see how much functionality and normalcy I can regain in my life. It's a strange thing, contemplating life in a wheelchair or with a walker. But in the grand scheme of things, there are far worse things. Each day, I get stronger. Someday, I hope to go for a solo hike for about a week in Denali Nat'l Park in Alaska, and I'm going to work hard to try to get there.
Thank you all for you generous support throughout this. It's really meant a lot to know that there are so many good vibes floating my way--really shows a guy that it'll all be ok in the end.
Thanks again, and my best wishes to all you and yours. I'll continue my treatment and keep getting better, and I'll try to keep you updated of the big milestones. And when I finally leave my boot tracks in Alaska, you'll all be the first to see the pictures.
Take care,
Chris
