[/IMG] I found a box today up by the gate and it was from Buck.My Son got me a tee shirt and Buck Diamond Sharpening System for my birthday.I've always used Arkansas Stones and this looks pretty cool.

I like em both Tom-I've been thinking about gettin a shirt for my daughter and
I.

Thanks Jim,I'm woundering if a diamond stone is going to get a sharper edge or just get there faster?

Tom, It depends on what steel your sharpening .Those are great gifts it shows he knows about you and cares . Have a Happy Birthday . DM

You will have to let us know Tom!!! :D ;)

My guess would be faster, but I don't have an arkansas stone to confirm!! :o
I gave it a whirl Jim and you're right, with the agressive course side you get a real fast edge and the fine side does a quick job of smoothing it out but the jury is still out when it comes to which one gets the sharpest edge in the end.

Thanks David, the knife I tried out on the diamond stone was a Vantage Avid with 13C26 steel. It's alot faster than using traditional stones but I'm still not sure which method is best for a razor edge in the end.

[/IMG]After spending time using both diamond and stone there's no doubt the diamond is quicker and more aggressive but for that fine razor edge the fine stone still works best for me.Of course others mileage may vary. The best bet is to never let it get dull and sharpen the blade often, that being said maybe others will weigh in on thier methods. After all what good is a dull knife?
