Discovery Channel just keeps pumping them out

Nine ordinary Americans are in a remote corner of Venezuela's vast wilderness with the sole goal of making it back to civilization alive. In the first episode, the group is left with a small cache of basic supplies as they traverse sixty brutal miles. They face hunger, exhaustion, and an army of poisonous snakes and spiders threatening their survival. The nine strangers work together to scavenge for food and catch fish, and construct their own backcountry shelters to protect themselves from Venezuela's harsh weather systems. This epic test of wills in the wild pushes each participant's physical and psychological limits. OUT OF THE WILD is not a game. There is no prize waiting for them at the end of the journey -- only the satisfaction and knowledge that they have survived the experiment....given they survive.

Series Premiere Thursday, February 17 at 10PM

WOW! I was literally just going to post the same thread! I guess great minds really do think alike:)

I really enjoyed the Alaskan Experiment and I think it will be even a notch up from there.

I did like the AE, it was a great show. Mostly, because the drama BS of "getting voted out" was gone. True survival (kinda) and great views. I hope they don't go way overboard. That seems to happen with success alot. Here's to the new show, may it be a great adventure.

thanks for the head's up! as a side note, someone really needs to tell discovery snakes are venomous, not poisonous. it's one of a few that irks me :o

Kinda like how I hate when people make Porsche a one-syllable word? Pet peeves are great, aren't they? haha

DVR will be set as soon as I get a chance. Thanks, Kurupted!

No Jeff Probst and vote to kick you out! And they call it survivor when as soon as they starve for 2 days, a food challenge comes up.. bad shelter... tarp reward.. :jerkit:

Enjoyed Out of the wild Alaska for those reason and looking forward to Venezuela.. thanks for the headsup

Thanks for the heads up. I too enjoyed Alaska Experiment. Hopefully we get this new series up here in Canada at the same time, and don't have to wait a few months or years for them to start showing it on Discovery Channel Canada.

My expectations for this show are lower than what most here seem to have.

I always thought the most dangerous animal in Venezuela was Hugo Chavez.

personally this doesn't compare to the wrestling ladies and flappin boobies on 'last woman standing' on planet green but that's just me :D

Very cool,

However if they are that close to the Tepuys that is not the jungle, more like high elevation savanna, what we call the Gran Sabana. No problem at all to find water and weather is not that bad if it is not the raining season.

Definitely will see.

Grrr. Still not seeing this show listed on Discovery or Discovery World Channels here on Rogers Cable TV.

Thanks for the heads up though.

One of the things I liked about last season's show was that there was almost no infighting between the participants. I hope that continues this year.

I won't watch anything coming out of the communist dictatorship of Venezuela.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but Venezuela is just the location where this was shot. As far as I know this was filmed, produced and probably stars mostly Americans. I haven't seen the show but if I understand the plot correctly, it's about surviving in that Amazon environment so choosing to boycott and miss out on all that potential knowledge just because of where it was shot wouldn't be my idea of a smart choice.

How much knowledge can you potentially gain by watching, vs how much revenue would the channel/show lose because one person decided to boycott? To me your gain far outweighs their loss if you don't watch. Does that make sense?

My point is you gotta look out for you first. Who cares where it was shot as long as no one was harmed in the making of it. As long as it helps you acquire some skills to take care of you and your own, to me that's all that matters. In a SHTF situation the Gov't isn't gonna cut you any breaks because you were loyal to "America" and chose not to watch anything produced in that Commie country!

I don't know, that thinking makes no sense to me.

That's what I liked as well. It wasn't a "last-man" standing scenario or any of the other "reality-show" relationships. It really seemed like individuals willing to take on a challenge; if they gave up, it was less dramatic but interesting to note the loss of one increased the burden on the others. I'm looking forward to this one in Venezuela. I've been through there before and it's really a beautiful country. If they could just give Hugo the boot, it would be a prime vacation spot.
