Heres one I added the finishing touches to today..

Its a 240mm Chef knife forged from a Meteorite and 1095. To create this awesome blade and bolsters. Topped off with beautiful mammoth ivory and stainless pins. The blade has a uniform distal taper, and tapered tang. approx 2.5 mm thick above the heel. Full blended grinds.

The box is Curly maple and lace wood with cocobolo front handle, brass hardware. I added a small piece of ivory and meteorite, so the RAW materials can be seen and handled. allowing a closer inspection of the cool patterns in the meteorite as well as the grain structure and texture of the ivory.

Yep, Im pretty darn proud of this one and want to thank you for taking a peek. and as always, comment and critiques are welcomed!

If I were older, and married, and had kids, I would sell them to be able to buy this knife.

But alas, I'm not older, I'm not married, and I don't have kids!

So I'll have to drool over it from here.

I am older and am married with kids. Triple H, just tell me where to send them and I will provide my address. I'm thinking even trade.

This sounds like something from the early 1800's?:D

Wow. Just wow.

Very nice, both knife & box. I just LOVE knives with presentation boxes.

Beautiful materials used.

Kind regards,

Jos

if I were using meteorite iron, I'd have commissioned an epic Viking-era sword. I wonder if there are any space-themed restaurants out there...

Thank you guys! his one was alot of fun!

Im honored to have had the chance to work with the materials. I think we did them justice on this one!

PayetteRucker, Lets make that sword!! That would be awesome!! We are currently working on a piece that would be perfect for a Viking sword! Or if anyone else has a knife in mind and wants to talk about having it made.. I would be happy to hear from you. :)

Randy,
That is a wonderful! Great looking mammoth which contrast well with your damascus.

Best,
Eric

Thanks Guys, I just hope the gentleman I made it for likes it as much as we do!! lolol :)

Im still finalizing a few things on the way the knife and pieces fit and are secured into the box. I just wasnt happy with a couple small things.. so I started over on it!

WOW!!! That is a good-looking knife
Only way I can figure the new owner wouldn't like it...was if he was BLIND!

What a great looking knife Randy. It all fits together nicely. Is it true that the meterorite actually killed the mammoth and you were able to get both beautiful pieces in the same place?

Kevin

LOL, Thanks guys, for the encouraging words! I dont know what killed the mammoths. But it may of been fall out from a meteorite hitting the earth.. The irony! :D

I re made the lining inside the box yesterday. I just wasn't totally happy with a couple of wrinkles in the lining. lol. After a few hours, Im still not happy, so Im gona make a couple more adjustments.. I know..I know.. Ill never be totally satisfied. But at some point.. I will be ready to send it to its new home anyways! LOLOL

Again, thank you for checking out this thread and the great complements on the knife, you guys made my day!!

God Bless
Randy
