Today the good Lord blessed me with a day off from work and a North Carolina July morning of only 71 degrees. If you live here, you know that is a miracle regardless of your religion or philosophy. So, I grabbed my pack and my walking stick and headed for the forest. I'm just now getting over my third case of Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever, the second case since last July, and I haven't spent much time in the woods in the last few weeks. Note: That may seem like a lot of tick fever but in light of how much time I spend in the woods and the ungodly amount of ticks that jump on me, it's really not that bad. The light was wasn't great and I only brought my point and shoot, so please excuse the poor picture quality. Enough chatter, on to the photos....

The walk in:

This cedar was covered in so much poison, it looked like an oak tree

Today's pack is a Frost River Standard Book Bag that I picked up from a BCUSA forum member. This is a great pack with plenty of room and very comfortable. My wife just informed me this evening that she ordered me an FR Seven Bridges Pack so I'll probably be selling this one. They are too comparable in size to justify keeping them both.

I picked a nice flat rock in the middle of the creek to get some lunch going. The view from my table...

Fired up the Esbit ultra light stove and filled my Toaks titanium pot with water to boil

Today's menu consists of fresh garden squash, snow peas, and chicken soup washed down with some hot tea

The soup is finished and lunch is served. I packed up just in time for the temp to jump ten degrees and the humidity to rise to 70%. What a great little outing. God is good, far better then I deserve. Thanks for looking and happy trails.

Looks like you had a awesome time. Glad you're starting to feel better and out on your feet. Keep the pics coming and ticks going.

Looks like a good day in the woods. I hope you get a lot more dirt time before it gets too hot. Thanks for sharing!

Great trip report WB, that place sure looks peaceful. Lunch looked good too. Thanks for sharing!

Purty as all get outs - and what a hyper cool mug for your tea! Is that thing ceramic?

Those pics are great! And the 3 knives you've got there would be my selection for a dayhike as well. Maybe I'd throw in a 14, because why not. Seriously though, those 3 blades together, that's just dangerous. You might as well conquer the world with them.

Fantastic photos sounds like a near perfect day
By the way are you eating those squash raw or steamed someway they look delicious

Thanks for the trip report! Looks like you had a good time and was able to hit the reset button with style.

Your 16 looks awesome by the way. Great job.

Jeremy

Looks like a good time, thanks for sharing. Just as a heads up, you can post 40 photos in a single post here. I can tell you're used to posting at BCUSA, where the limit is 5.

Thanks guys. The mug is a kupilka 21, made of polymer. The squash is raw and fresh from our garden. I just slice it and add salt and pepper.
