As I walked the dogs by a lake today I saw lots of reeds, maybe Cattail reeds without the seed heads, I decided to twist some up into cordage as I hiked.
Eventually I ran out and there were no more about where I had walked to, it was then that I came across these trees~

I thought if different species of trees can twist together then why not plants for cordage, I then grabbed some long rushes and began twisting these in with the reeds. What I ended up with was around 3 feet of very tough even if not very pretty cordage~

Found a couple of these eaten corn cobs at the top of the mountain, weird place to find em eh !

I tested the cordage out and found it good for lashing~

Awesome! I love seeing these threads, when cordage actually gets used for something else then lanyards.

What model sak is that?

Great job on the cordage Pitdog. I wish I could go hiking in your area some day.
The pics as always are grand.
