This magnet works on any smooth surface or can be placed on a leaf etc on some water and will work the same.
It comes in a tiny capsule which I added some cotton ball to for emergency tinder......

I like that SAK too. I like the rare earth magnet alot. that is a cool tool..just know your declination and your good to go!

hey pit that's the 1st time i've seen one of those rare earth mags.looks cool but i'm a klutz & would drop it in the brush, does the little dot glow in the dark? i've wondered how the edges on the saks would slice---looks like they did their homework.thanks for the pics.

Hey Dennis, yeah you would have to carefull not to drop it eh, I was thinking about putting a small plastic cap from a coke bottle in my kit that I can just drop the magnet straight into out of the capsule.
The magnet comes with a red dot which they warn you will rub off, they recommend adding one using nail polish etc which I did using some of Mrs Pits ! I guess you could use some glow in the dark paint etc as well !
