First Wild edible I found today was Hawthorn leaves, many people know how useful the berries can be but don't realise the leaves are also edible.
I'm not too fond of the texture but they taste like apple peel, not entirely unpleasant.

The Common Camas, the bulbs from this plant were so important to the first nation people that wars were fought over them !

You should go sit on that bench and drink a cup of tea. :D So I have a question for you. Did you get your knowledge of wild edibles from a book or a class? Wild edibles has always been on my back burner as far as skills go but I think I want to give it a fresh go. Any book you can recommend seeing as we're close in flora?

Mainly from books buddy, I have quite a few but my favorites are ~

Edible wild plants~ A North American field guide by Elias & Dykeman.

Edible & Medicinal Plants of Canada by MacKinnon Kershaw.

Plants of the San Juan Islands and Southern Vancouver Island by Collin Varner.

What makes you think the water is a little high? Benches aren't supposed to be in the lake a little bit? :p

Thanks for the pics.
