I recieved the JK pass around Scandi yesterday so decided to take it out today and try some one handed fire making !

I battoned off a little Fatwood ( OK I used two hands for this, I could easily have snapped some off but I wanted to test the knife)....

I then stuck the blade in a log to use the one handed technique of fire-making. With the blade in the log you can draw the fatwood against the blade to make a fuzz stick.....

As I tried to strike the ferro rod against the spine of the knife the knife started to move around. The log I'd chosen was extremely hard so I could not get the blade in far enough to be stable.I moved over to another softer log and tried again...

Success but as I tried to get a pic the flames lapped up toward the handle and nearly caused the pass around to be terminated early...Sorry John !!!

Anyway with the knife saved I made my way back and as I passed the Inlet I spotted this otter, my camera is only basic so this was the best pic I could get !:o

Back home I tried making a Fuzz stick, wish I had a sharpening stone as that is what you really need to correctly sharpen Scandi edges.:(

I took this pic of the knife next to my old faithful JK Hiker, it gives you a good idea of the size eh !
