Any interesting places to visit as far as the outdoors, in a 30 mile radius from downtown Denver? Never been there, so I don't know what to expect.

Interests include things like fishing and hiking.

Thanks. :)

Hi SkinnyJoe,

Lots of great hiking trails in the Denver Metro area. We're in Golden. The hike up Lookout Mountain or White Ranch are both great treks with impressive scenery. You can't go wrong with anything in Rocky Mountain National Park. If you have an afternoon and a car, you can hit part of a fourteener (weather permitting) and a drive over the Continental Divide is worth the effort. The elk are in rut and singing loudly to attract their ladies. Great website for day hikes in the denver Metro area here:

Fishing is good right now. The fish are active before things start icing. Check this for locations that might suit you:

If you're coming from sea level don't forget the altitude can grab you. Drink LOTS of water and take it easy. Being a mile or higher up can hit hard.
