In researching heavy duty outdoor blades, I'm very impressed with Bark River's Grasso Bolo II and III. I've also read excellent reviews of BR products on this forum, so I have no doubt either would be excellent purchases. My question though is this ... for basic hiking/camping/field craft chores, are the Grasso Bolos overkill? Could I do well with something like the Becker 9 or Machax, for roughly half the price? Even an Ontario Kukri, though not the same caliber as the BR, is a tough blade for 25% the price. The ~$250 for the BR would be my limit, so anything at that price point or less is within my consideration range. Any "expert" advice is most appreciated.
