You guys may think I am crazy for saying this, but.....

I just got an Outdoor Edge Whitetail Skinner. I was thinking that it would make for an excellent backup duty knife. The sheath carries the knife in a horizontal position. The belt loop fits perfectly through the strap of my bullet proof vest. I can wear it under my shirt, totally concealing it. I can also draw it easily. The knife would make for a great slasher. The grip is secure. As an added bonus it has a nifty seatbelt cutter. ;)

What do you guys think?

Good knife. Perhaps a kydex sheath designed for horizontal belt carry would be great. That way you don't have to fus with the flap on the sheath for speedy retrieval.

Hey! I kinda like that ugly thing! :)

It would also make for a very useful camp knife (except as a chopper -- for that I use an axe anyway).

I was thing the same thing. Might have to have one made for it.

Ever notice how versatile "hunting" knives are?

Hey man,

If you like the knife and think it'd make a fitting backup, go for it.

You can never have too much backup...

If I wanted the knife for defensive purposes I would grind off the gut hook. The last think I would risk is getting the blade hung up on something at close quarters. Fabric has a way of bunching up and failing to cut.
