Ok so I'm not just jumping into this blind, I have been looking into getting a new outdoor blade for almost a year or two now. I currently use a Cold Steel G.I. Tanto for minor chopping, pruning, battoning and walking through the woods messing around kind of bushcraft and for $25 dollars I can't complain one bit. Its a sharp peice of metal with a plastic/kydex sheath. Recently though I have become more serious into buying something a little more effective, non-tanto, made in the USA, actual chopper kind of knife.

Ok so now that I've rambled on enough here are a few I have had my eye on:
-RTAK II - i have heard great things a lot of bang for the buck... but maybe with its better to go Junglas for the better sheath?
-RAT 7 - this is my favorite as of now but again everyone complains about the sheath...
-Tops D.A.R.T. - just saw this one tonight looks very comparable to the Rat 7 but with the kukri style and unfortunately higher price tag
-Busse Team Gemini LB - this is more of a grail knife but it's still a maybe.. i've always wanted a busse and I love the walking dead

If anyone owns, likes, hates, or has any experience with them or wants to suggest other knives feel free to comment.
I apologize for being all over the place but there are so many options.

Thanks,
Jake

Heres a thread I started with a similar request:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ooking-for-14-quot-OAL-chopper-or-thereabouts

I ended up with a Junglas. It's burly as hell. I don't know why they call it a machete. If you are thinking RTAK I would go with the Junglas, I believe they are essentially the same thing except ESEE supposedly has a far superior heat treat and their warranty is no questions asked replacement. Made in USA.

Other suggestions:
Cold Steel Trail Master
Ontario SP 50 and 51 - I've heard good things about the HT on the 5160 steel of this line.
Scrapyard Sycko 711 - 1111

My choppers are the BK9 which is my favorite, through trades Ive acquired the Buck Hoodlum which is a beast of a knife with a great sheath, and the Kabar Kukri machete but that made in Taiwan so doesn't qualify for your OP.

Ok my friend let me tell you choppers are my thing I have over a hundred mostly custom but do have some factory knives also. If you want big go with the Junglas but . . . If you are looking for an all around large camp blade go with a BK9. I own both of them and both have decent factory sheaths. If you go with the BK9 you will find it has a cult following and therefore many custom handles and sheaths avaliable for it. Both are solid knives that will get what you want done. If you searched the forums you will most likely find threads with both knives being run through the ringer and probably even some videos.

I really like the TOPs dart. However I think the BK9 is the way to go.
