Outdoor wallet review.

Thanks for posting up the link  I've been looking to go to something more minimal like the skinny wallets. I'm going to now also consider these, the floating is definitely a plus. Lost a wallet going off a rope swing into a lake 20yrs ago and I'm still pissed off about it lol - what an absolute hassle plus lost cash. I knew where it was within a 10ft square and 8ft of water, but there is no finding a brown leather wallet in a lake with a mud bottom even days later with the water settled and using a mask. I'm sure the thing is still down there somewhere to this day :grumpy:

You're welcome.

I'd never really thought about getting a new wallet till I soaked my leather one. I still have it, but it sits unused on my dresser. Another nice thing about Flowfold is you are supporting a small American company.

An interesting alternative to the nylon wallet I've used for some years. I work in and around water and gave up carrying leather wallets years ago. This looks like something worth trying. Thanks.

 The Flowfold wallet looks to be really good, especially with the ability to float so much material. I agree that a grommet or sewn on loop (a piece of parachute cord should work well) would help. A cord attached to the wallet and to your belt can help prevent loss and deter pickpockets.

I have a Flowfold and love it. When I'm backpacking, I leave my fat (filled with plastic credit and store cards, licenses, etc, not cash!) nylon wallet at home and carry my Flowfold with just ID, some cash and one credit card. Even though it doesn't have a dummy cord, the fact that it is small, light and thin makes it seem more secure in my pocket.

My normal EDC wallet worked up and out of the pocket of a pair of new pants a couple of weeks ago while I was sitting at a kitchen counter stool at a friend's house. When I got home, there was a phone message telling me not to worry, my wallet was at their house. I thought it was a joke until I reached back and found my pocket was empty! Now, I'm afraid to wear those pants again. (They're Blackhawk brand "tactical" pants, with flaps over the rear pockets that are secured with magnets, rather than buttons.) When camping, I use a dummy cord on my keys. I may attach a loop to my Flowfold so I can do the same with it.

Being out in the woods with absolutely no need to produce it (unless it's hunting season, maybe) why does the wallet need to be anywhere then tucked away in a safe part of your pack, maybe in a ziploc bag?

When I'm in the woods, there are some things that I prefer to have on my person, not in my pack or bag. (Wallet/ID, knife, compass/map/GPS, lighter, flashlight, car keys, etc.) I know the odds of me loosing my pack are slim, but I guess I'm paranoid! ;-)
