Would it be decent for either? The blade shape looks good for it. Typical tasks include food prep, obvious cardboard/random cutting (all which i find handled fine with 6' blades) etc. I generally carry longer blades, in fact i prefer them so size is not an issue. I will be doing absolutely 0 hunting/survival stuff with it, I just really like the shape and look, looks useful. Other use would be for firearm backup, which it seems suited enough for, it's pointy enough for stabbing and the right shape/length for slashing.

What do you think? I really like this knife.

Got the outdoorsman lite and use ist for food prep and cutting cardboard. It does a great job. I'm thinking about sharpening the "bone breaker " on the spine to use it for some light chopping tasks and spare the edge itself. Haven't really tested it on wood yet. And yes, it's great for slashing

The Outdoorsman Lite is a remarkable knife in terms of value per dollar. It will do just about anything you
require it to do. But if you want one that will be with you your whole lifetime and you can leave to your descendants,
save up for the Sanmai III Outdoorsman.
