I just came back from Kmart and the sporting goods section. While I was
there a quick glance at the knife section revealed a surprise. There was a
"Made in USA" 1080T in the display only instead of Schrade it was named
"Outdoor Life" instead. There were a few other classic Schrade models that
had the same name.

And there Multi Tools with the Schrade name in the same display as well as
a "badger" maodel with the Schrade name on the package (not the knife btw)

Has anyone seen these models?

seen the outdoor life knives at the k-mart here too, while closeout shopping for schrades. I didn't buy any though.

I couldn't bring myself to buy them, they were missing the Schrade USA
label in the right places. Sort of like going to buy a ford mustang only it
doesn't say mustang it says honda accord on it. That just doesn't seem to
fit you know?

A Ford Mustang put together like a Honda Accord

Where do I sign up? ;)

I believe the Rigid and Outdoor Life knives are made by Arrowhead, the U.S. manufacturing division of United Cutlery. You can see them on their website. A few are near copies of the original Imperial Schrade patterns, and a few are "modified".

Codger

Codger do you have an opinion on them? Are they actually made in the US
for instance? The sharpfinger was 14 dollars but seemed to be smaller than
the Schrade model.

Shann how about a honda made by ford?

I have not handled one myself, so opinions on quality I cannot truthfully give. It is my understanding that they are indeed made here in the U.S., and that some of the Schrade machinery was purchased by Mr. Hall for this purpose. I think textoothpk (Phil) has one of the Rigid Sharpfingers, which should be the same. But I cannot say for sure. Did you look at them on their website? I do know that Arrowhead is the U.S. Mfg. division, Tommahawk is the importer division, United is the parent and wholesaler/distributor for both divisions.

I haven't wanted to take the time if they were poorly/non US made to be
honest with you Codger. So now a peek at their site is in order.
