Hi All,

I currently have a small skinner, and a SOG X-ray (with serrations) that are in desperate need of sharpening. Every time I go near a knife (luckily no goods ones), things always turn out badly.

Does anyone on here do sharpening for a fee? If so, how much is it do do a blade with serrations, and for the small skinner, and how long is the turn around? The skinner's blade is about 2.5" long, and all I can tell you is it's "Toledo Steel" that I got while at a forge in Spain. The x-ray is standard from SOG.

If someone replies and there is another member who can offer reviews of their dealings with that person, all the better.

Thanks in advance

First guy does not do serrations - I will be contacting the second.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Richard can make it shave the hairs off a gnat's butt.

Richard,

What would you charge for both the x-ray (with serrations - they just need touching up) and a good re-sharpening of the rest of the blade, and the skinner?

Also, what is your turn-around time?

Cheers

I sent a knife to siguy recently. His rates are very low, his turn around time is fast, and the knife came back absurdly sharp. I haven't tried the other guy (siguy is almost local for me).

not to take anything from the gentlemen mentioned above i'm sure they do great work but wouldn't you prefer to be able to sharpen your knives yourself? do a little research into the different systems out there and get the one that you feel most comfortable with and go for it. I think what gives a lot of people trouble with knife sharpening is they expect to be proficient the first time they do it and like any skill it takes time. just my .02
