I simply wished to thank HI for their outstanding service when placing an order earlier this week. Apparently, my browser was having a bit of trouble with an order and it didn't go through. I called later when I didn't receive an e-mail confirmation, and we cleared everything up. The kind and efficient lady on the phone even called me back on a Saturday when I left a message earlier. Remarkable and rare service indeed.

This past purchase was the first, and it certainly won't be the last. Next month, budget permitting, I will be placing an order for an Ang Khola.

Fantastic products as well. I will never waste my time and money with poorly made khukris again.

Trent, welcome to the Cantina! I have never spoken to Yangdu myself, but know how responsive she is. Please let us know what you got and how you like it.

As far as hanging around and buying more, let me just say that the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Consumer Reports have combined to mandate that the HI Web Site be redesigned with a large flashing disclaimer: "Abandon Hope, All Ye Who Enter Here!"

Your best bet is probably just to sell everything you own and send the money to Yangdu now. She'll let you know when you have run out. :D

Regards,

Norm

Not only will she let you know when you have run out of money, but she'll also send you only those kukris that were meant to be yours... Nice and efficient, these spirited blades are.

Welcome TrentKTS.

That kind lady was Yangdu Martino. She's a neat person. I'm not sure what her title is. Maybe HI VP of Worldwide Sales and Customer Support?

Yangdu; I'll remember that for the future. Thank you for the information so that I may properly address her.

I purchased the kerambit style khukri. Very substantial and imminently useful while being well made. I've been training with kerambits for years while practicing and teaching KunTao Silat and have "several" others. This variation still adheres to being a kerambit due to the angular curve in the blade and handle (yes, the handle needs to curve as well; the tip should be almost perpendicular with the handle) with the finger hole in the proper position (off center) for gripping in regular grip or forward grip (reverse for kerambit), but offers other martial and practical uses due to the recurve khukri blade. It sharpens up incredibly easily and keeps the edge-- wonderful heat treat. The buffalo horn handle is perfect.

I've seen and used "kerambits" from other makers and manufacturers, and while they were well made and nicely done, they weren't kerambits, they were merely ring handled daggers. The HI version is not a traditional Indonesian kerambit, but it is an excellent kerambit. I think it may become my new favorite.
