HELLO
I've never posted to this forum but I resently bought the above mentioned bowie. My question is with the sheath. WHAT IS THIS FROG THING FOR"
I assume you have the option of removing the actual sheath with knife, punch a hole in your belt and wear it on the inside of the belt with the stud holding said knife in place. This may be a dumb question but I don't have a clue.

Thanks for your help

Jeff

I believe it is designed to be worn with the sheath inside the belt, and the stud (frog) keeps it from falling down through. I guess you could punch a hole if you desired.... :)

The frog is the leather loop, the stud is just a stud.

El lobo is right that you have two carry options. Either in the frog with the stud locked in place, or under the belt (either on your hip, or like Jerry does, in the small of your back).

"Frogs" are used for swords, khukuris and all sorts of military arms - not just bowies. It allows you to slide the scabbard in and out, yet have the belt loop stay on your belt. An important feature for those carrying swords who want to be able to sit down when they eat without unsheathing their sword. Just pull the scabbard out of the frog and lay it on your lap.

Forgot to say.....congrats on a very fine knife! I've seen Jerry carry these at Hammer-Ins and Knife Shows. Plus, looks great!

There you go JEFFREY,

A MUCH clearer and more detailed explanation than my effort.....and from one of our esteemed knife makers as well

Thanks Daniel.
