For those of you who have received your OVBs (mine is coming this Thursday!): does the blade have a distal taper, i.e., when viewed from the top looking down on the blade spine, is the blade tapered from guard to point? This is an element of blade design that you don't often (ever?) see in production knives, but Jerry uses to great effect in his handmades. The distal taper lightens the blade considerably, moving the point of balance back towards the guard.
Jerry's knives are known for their lightning speed, and this is a major element in getting that feel. I am sure that this makes the blade grinding process considerably more complicated, but the result is a superior handling knife.
I am fortunate to have three of Jerry's knives, and I am looking forward to comparing the OVB to "the real thing!" To date, I have never met a collaboration that I felt truly did justice to the custom knifemaker, but everything I have read so far indicates that this might just be the one!
