I've taken a sudden interest in these knives, since I got to handle the 11" maplewood version at the ECCK.

What does "presentation" mean? Does it mean that it's not up to hard use? If so, what kind of use is it intended for?

Thanks guys!

They wont be able to sustain the level of abuse a 1/4" full tang Busse will take but otherwise they are good to go.

Hey average:

yeah, but you can say that about any knife really. Can it handle chopping chores like branches or old furniture? I like the look and feel of the knife, just want to make sure how far its functionality goes.

I don't think too many people have actually used their OVB's but I did see a comparison between an 11" blade OVB and the newer similarly sized CS bowie (can't recall the name right now). I'll try searching for it later.

Hi,

I've got one of the first runs of the OVB in curly maple, modified by Matt Lamey to a full convex grind (IIRC)... Tried chopping dead branches off of an old tree - the edge chipped a wee bit in places... although it did sharpen back up pretty quick. I mentioned this to Matt and he thinks the steel may be on the brittle side...

So, there are some of us out there actually using a Fisk OVB the way it was meant! LOL!!!

I like them ergos and I love the overall look.... I think, though, I'd rather have Jerry make one and then I wouldn't be too worried about the quality...
