Hello
My friend is looking for a good axe for winter bushcraft. I told him straight away - if you want the best axe you can get and not spend 300$, there's only one choice. You have to get a vintage, American made axe!
He concluded that i know the best so we decided he'll transfer me some money and i'll choose an axe for him and also restore it to a functional form.
The best thing i could find right away was this OVB axe. I paid $20 for the axe head itsels and $25 for the shipping.

Thanks for sharing. Please keep up with the pics...that maker's mark looks very interesting. Did you buy this locally or find a deal online?

Also, what is the weight and dimensions on the old boy?

Since im from Poland there is no option for buying pieces like this locally.
It weighs 1.5kg That's like 3-3 1/2 LBS
There's one company in Poland that's selling hickory axe handles. The longest one measures 30" and costs like 10 bucks. Second company is selling german ash handles for about the same price. The rest is just $3 hafts made of beech.

Im cosidering deepening the hollow portion since it's very shallow :/
Edit:
Removed the mushrooming from one side. It was a pain doing it with a metal file.

Yes i have. They're expensive but they're worth it when it comes to building a perfect axe, not a beater axe.
Edit More grinding. As you can see in the pictures i didnt do a great job grinding it, but that's because i using a 1x30" grinder.
