OK, that is enough for me. It is just a bunch of left wing crap. A redressing of their imaginary Vietnam quagmire in desert tan. I thing it was enough when one of the actors referred to American Troops as "trained savages".

I thought Bochco was a pretty conservative fellow.

Maybe you misinterpreted the target of the satire / sarcasm?

I think there trying to be serious. Did Bochco make "Tour of Duty"?

absolute garbage, what a waste of celluloid. They pay people to make this
crap?
What was wrong you may ask?

1. a bunch of stumble bums who can't use a rifle
2. of course the woman just had to be in the main of combat
3. the courvasier run that turns out poorly of course
4. the wanna be vietnam feel to the evac of the wounded
5. the NCO threatening the private
6. the video message home while the wifey was banging "jody"
7. of course the woman who were in combat just wandered away
8. the supposed double dealing with the iraqi's (shades of vietnam)
9. every cliche was used except for the radio's not working (no air support no
orders to return fire etc.)
10. a light coming on while the soldiers were approaching a mosque and they
just stop moving, perfectly silhoutted(sp) and no one shoots out light until
they were fired upon.

I am sure it will be highly praised in the NYT.
This is no Band of Brothers, more like a poor version of Platoon.

sounded stupid in the previews, sounds like that's what it was.

I'm sure there will be a whole raft of rightwing "feel good" shows, this fall. Like the new "E Ring".

watched it for a little while. I can't understand it. Where on earth do they find their technical advisors-- cruising the leather bars in North Hollywood? Can't those jackasses find one -- just one --person who has seen combat to help them out here?

Hollywood needs a Frank Capra type for war footing and to help boost the morale of the country. We are winning the war on terror, but to listen to the mainstream media and entertainment outlets, you'd think our endeavors were entirely in vain. The American public needs movies and shows to rally us around the troops! I was hoping Shpeilberg might be the guy, but alas, he is not.

Hollyweird has a template and they will simply plug in their preconceived
ideas into anything that they make about the War in Iraq.

What I would love to see is a Band of Brothers type production that shows
both the good and the realistic bad.

The really sorry thing about this film is we were expecting film to mirror
reality. What were we thinking?

I never got the impression that Bochco was a conservative guy, though I never got the opposite impression either. Wasn't he the yo-yo that prodcued that stupid cop show where they broke out into song and dance all the time? I caught about two episodes of that and couldn't stand anymore. What was that called?

Spare me the jokes but the series was called "cop rock". It doesn't come
any worse than that show.

I read sufficient reviews pre-show to learn that I didn't need to tune in. Glad I did not. I don't blame the actors - they need the work when they can get it. Did Michael Moore have anything to do with this?
