So, i have a Benchmade model# 707, the Mchenry & Williams one, and, because i am stupid, at some point way over tightened the main pivot screw. To make matters worse, in an attempt to lossen said screw, i stripped it. Anything i can do? ANY help is greatly appreciated!

I'd say send it to Benchmade and let them work on it. But call first.

Other routes involve tools and some know how, which if you don't posses you can send to members on the board that know what they are doing.

Do not send it in, call customer support, talk to Dianne and ask for a replacement in the mail, this way there is no turn around time, just one way shipping.

BM customer support phone number 1-800-800-7427.

Gotta love those little 707 sequels.

I was under the mind the screw was stripped and STUCK in the knife well over tightened.

yeah it is stuck, i suppose i could drill it out or something but i'd prefer not to damage the knife, which is a very real possibility since i have the manual dexterity of a blind infant. Anyway, thanks for the info, i'll probably juist call and see what they can do, even if they charge me for parts and labor or something.

I believe BM uses torx on all their knives. You might be able to get it out with the next size up. Carefully though, or it will just make the stripped head worse.

on a kershaw storm i used a dremmel to cut a slot in the pivot screw so i could loosen the pivot, but it left a large grove in the knife
o.k. for a user but looks horrible

I ended up doing the same thing with pretty minimal damage to the knife, problem solved! already emailed BM about a replacement screw although, from what i've heard, i will probably have to send it in. thanks anyways everyone
