Overall, is the Large Sebenza built better than the Small ?

I was watching one of Sebenza NickShabazz NickShabazz video and at one point, he said the Large Sebenza should be built a little better than the Small one, without elaborating much. In fact, I think it's the second time he mentioned it in one of his videos.

Is there some truth in that ? If yes, can someone gives me his take on it ? Is it because the hardware is larger ? I never held both at the same time, so it's hard for me to verify.

My small 21 is rock solid. Zero and I mean zero play and is smooth as smooth can be. My large 21 had so much blade play out of the box you could hear it rattle when fully open. Now my first 2 sebenzas that I had to sell for much needed funds, neither had any play. My first large 21 was in every way perfect as was the small.

No, it’s not.
IMO, the small takes more time to break in and get that smooth action experienced with a CRK. Could be why some people perceive that the large is built better. I’m down to two smalls that I’ve got for my collection. I’ve moved the rest of them because the large works better for me. I guess the large is more forgiving during the break in period and you don’t notice just how tight the knife is. It seems that with a small, everything is more apparent until it’s broke in.

I now have multiples of each and they’re built the same to me. Not sure what he means either, they’re the exact same parts just different sizes.

They are the same other than the thickness / size f the material it self. the fact that the material is thicker it maybe be stronger but other than that they are the same.

I think with the large, you get a bit more leverage when opening the blade, and thus it seems like it is easier to open. Just a perception thing and not a reality. Like others have said, they use the same materials, and the same manufacturing techniques.

Man, who knows what that jackass was on about! In all seriousness, I don't recall saying that, but who knows what slipped out. Let me know, if you happen to remember, which video you saw. I should check that out and clarify.

That said, it's a bit bigger in the hand, and has a bigger feeling of 'heft', a bit more overbuilt, but build quality should be roughly equivalent. Buy the size you want, they'll be equal.

I have owned dozens of each ( including Classic, Regular, 21 ), and I greatly prefer the large as it suits my needs and hands better. But both have the same build quality to me. I only have 1 small 21 currently but it’s simply because I prefer the large over the small is all.

Hey, thanks for taking the time. I will check today and get back to you.

I have 2 CRKs, a L21 and an Umnumzaan, both have same quality of finish, fitment, hardware etc. As far as I know, CRK only have one factory at their HQ in the USA, therefore any production from the same source to be the same level of quality. That is why their quality is comparable across their range of offering. Unlike other brands that do have multiple factories producing specific models of their range.

As Nick said they are the same in quality. He is right about the large feeling better most of the time. I have a large Micarta Insingo, it feels so easy to operate. The small takes more time to get use to if have larger mitts. I’m getting use to my small 21 the more I carry it.

It was this video (20m34sec can't timestamp on the forum) :

I had to use the transcript feature of youtube, which I didn't even know existed. Highly useful when you search for a specific word in a youtube video.

So yeah, my mind actually slipped. You never said the large was better built, you say the large was better for the price, or something along that line, which is a different comment. I'd still like a video about it, where you elaborate a little on your thoughts. Would be cool if you ever have the time.
