Overall strength of Endura FRN vs SS vs other models

I am looking to purchase the most rugged, high quality Spyderco I can afford. I like the Enduras but I am not sure about the FRN version's lock strength if the blade is flexed sideways. Is the Endura II in SS much stronger? Too slippery? Perhaps another model of the same size like a G-10 Wegner. Do I gain any advantage by spending twice the money?

I want to use the blade as an EDC knife and it has to be able to put up with a lot of hard use. It will be cutting most everything.

I have also posted a question about blade type in the general forum, but if anyone would like to comment about which edge I should get, please do, as I am new to this game.

Thanks very much.

The FRN should hold up well. I've never have it flexed enough to release the lock or having it fail.
If you still worried about it get SS version or G10 handled knifes from Spyderco.

I could be wrong but I think I read an old thread somehere that the SS Native had the stronest lock.

The lock could handle something like 500lbs of pressure.

This is just my vague memory though.

If you are REALLY worried about strength, get yourself a Chinook...That one IS as solid as a bank vault door!.:).

If you decide on an all-stainless model and like the feel and heft of it, but find it slippery, you could apply some stair tread tape to the scales. One of the TK writers did this to a knife and it changed the feel entirely.

There are some gray colors that would look good. And if you cut it to the handle shape nicely, it will look very good. Maybe leave a border of the stainless showing as a border detail.

I have decided that FRN handle knives have too much flex for my taste.
I think you would be better served with the Chinook, the Military, or the Starmate instead.

Or the Ayoob, which has an aluminum handle AND steel liners.

Good luck,
Allen.
