A knife is only as good as it's heat treat. Which production company (exlcuding Chris Reeves&co.) does a good job? In particular, how well heat treated are Benchmades and Spydercos?

Going to custom, is Paul Bos one of the best? What about makers who do their own, such as Stout or Dunkerly?

What about damascus? Norris?

I think Cold Steel does an outstanding job on their Carbon V heat treats.

As for custom makers. Howard Clark is one of the very best.

I've had a number of knives treated by Paul Bos.
The man IMO is a heat treat guru.
I've never had a complaint about any blade treated by him. My personal D-2 fixed blade takes an awesome edge and holds onto it for dear life.
He really does a great job. Check him out.
Sorry, I don't know about the others you are asking about.

If a man says something in the woods and there are no women there to correct him, is he still wrong?

Ernie Mayer is now doing heat-treats on a custom or low-volume basis on steels like A2, ATS-34, etc. *Highly* recommended.
