I wanted to test out my new gear before my trip to Zion next weekend. So I headed down to Arizona Hot Springs for a little overnight. The area is a few miles south of Hoover Dam. Weather was warm with some wind. Temps around 70 for the high and 45 the low. It rained lightly for a few minutes this morning. All in all a good trip and I feel ready for my longer trip next weekend.

I am pretty happy with all my gear choices. With out food and water All my gear comes in around 15 to 16 pounds.

Edit: sorry for the crappy Iphone pics

Checked out your gear thread, you sure dropped a pretty penny:eek: But that stuff should last quite a while. And thats one beautiful place you hiked. I'd especially love to find some hot springs. I wish we had places like that here in WI. Of course I've only seen about 2% of the state so I shouldn't rule it out. We do have some amazing spots here in Dairyland, lol. I look forward to seeing pics of your next trip too. And don't fret, your pics were fine.

I have thought about taking the Nikon, but I just cant bring myself to add all the weight. I want to pick up a decent small compact camera for my trips.

Brew I think its money well spent. The most expensive item I have is my sleeping bag. Any bigger guy looking for a quality lightweight sleeping bag Buy a WM. My cheap car camping bag claims to have more girth But I felt like I had way more room in my WM bag. Sometimes you buy a expensive product with a bunch of hype and feel underwhelmed. I can say that I am way impressed with Western mountaineering bags so far.

I would also like to give a shout out to another piece of gear. My GSI halulite kettle. I bought it on a whim when I as on my way to a camping trip because it was cheap and it had good reviews, never planing for it to remain as my primary. Its worked so well and I like it so much that I have no plans to replace it.
