I got out yesterday for a overnight at my camp. Nothing big, just wanted to get away and see if I could work out some kinks in my Hammock experiance. I didnt have any plans, I didnt want to do any "homework", just wanted to get out and have some fun. I have a side zip Hennesey expedition that Ive slept in a few times. Im a side and stomach sleeper so Ive never really been comfortable in a hammock. I am trying to learn to use it effectively so I wanted to spend some time setting it up and see if I could get a better fit. The hammock is tops. A nice piece of gear that is well made. I dont like the birth canal opening on regular Henneseys, but a few years ago my wife bought me a side zip one when they came out for our anniversary. The fly sucks. Too small. So I use my 10x10 tarp with it. I got it set up and tweaked it a few times and then I could instantly tell I got it right. I was laying flat, and comfortable. Had my big agnes pad under me. I slept like a baby. Read for an hour and a half before falling asleep, and slept straight through till 9am. lol Thats rare for me even in a bed. Im excited to get out more with it, now that I know more about how to set it. I also bought a new video camera recently and it came weds AM so I wanted to play around with it and get it figured out. Its a Kodak playsport ZX5, waterproof/shockproof, HD. Not too fancy, but a cool little handheld camera for bushclass/Hardwoodsman stuff that is rugged. I got a late start out there so I didnt have time for much shraftin.

Didnt do much else. Lit a fire with shavings, splitwood and twigs, brewed a cup of tea, wife brought me out grub so I didnt even cook. Just enjoyed a cigar and the fire. I attempted bowdrill with cracked cap, but my shroom was still not dry enough. Just drilled through the shroom with no color change to the dust. Thats ok, Ill get it. I did manage to start a piece uncharred with flint and steel this am before I broke camp. Which is a first.

Anyways, not much to show, but heres the pics and Vid. Some friends of mine made me a wicked set of fire irons in trade for some sheath work, so I pulled the old galvonised pipe/rebar setup and got these in the ground. Flat awesome. Thanks again, guys.

Also built a camp rack to hang gear and tools on. Cool trick I learned from IAwoodsman.

Got a 10cm Zebra recently from a Canadian buddy. I took the bail off and made a removable one. I love the size of this pot.

Finally got it to work uncharred with flint and steel. Sliced it thin... What a cool tinder for the hardwoods. Works charred and uncharred with flint and steel, works for bowdrill hearth, works green with a ferro rod. Once its lit, its frickin lit. coals up. Hardwoods chaga. lol

All in all it was very nice to just get out for a bit without an agenda and have some fun, and R&R bit. Thanks for readin....

Good video, not the same as real outdoors therapy for me but it was obvious you had some. I am craving woodsmoke right now and the weekend is full of work and forecast rain. Thanks, it might get me through.

Thanks for sharing. I've never been a fan of Hammocks because I need to sleep on my side. I simply cannot fall asleep on my back.

Good Stuff J!

Thanks!

Thanks man....Gonna have to get you out here one of these days.

Yeah I was the same way. However, I got the right "hang" this time and was finally able to sleep on my side! With the right pitch, and laying diagonal, it was heaven. Trust me man. I was about to sell the thing because I couldnt fall asleep on my back either.

Looks like a Blast

Thanks for sharing J

It was a nice time. Workin ambulance has been brutal lately, and Im pretty booked up in the leather shop, so I was in dire need of a break.

Thanks Mike.... I like it. Ive still got some things Id like to do out there to the camp, but its came along nicely.

I got out with my Warbonnet Blackbird for its second run over the weekend. I know I need more practice with the set up. I slept ok but I think there is room for improvement.

Thanks for the write up too.
