Hey KA-BAR Krew!

Last night I was able to head out to one of my nearby bushcraft spots. I got out to the woods at around 4PM and managed to collect and process a bunch of fire wood and get a fire going and get my tarp set up just as it got dark. I took it easy and enjoyed the calm and the fire, and of course had Roxy to hang out with. We had a family of coons hanging out right above us and Roxy wasn't to happy about that. Haha. I put the Globetrotter to good use making a handful of tent pegs, processing some wood to get the fire going, and other general tasks around camp. It got a bit chilly, so some hot chocolate was definitely in order before I called it a night and got to bed. This morning I had a little bit of oatmeal for breakfast and hung around for a few hours just exploring the woods. I packed up right around noon today and headed back. There is a big front moving in tonight, and it looks like we could get a foot of snow! Looking forward to that, and hopefully getting out in the snow again before it melts.

I have put together a video of my brief trip into the woods, I hope you enjoy it. I'm going to start making these regularly, so if you have any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them.

Thanks for watching,

Jesse

Finally got a chance to watch this...nice and peaceful, just the way I like it. I liked your setup; I need to try sleeping under a tarp one of these days. I always chicken out and end up grabbing my little tent. More secure but definitely heavier. Need to get over my phobia of bugs crawling over my face all night [emoji3]

The little knife you used, was it the globetrotter, or one of your own designs? Kind of hard to tell. Nice useful size, whatever it was.

Thanks for the video; I can tell you put time in on shooting angles and framing your shots. Well done [emoji106]

Nice camera work with varying views.
Looks like good weather for tarp camping - too cold for bugs.
Best get home before you get the 18" of snow we just had which will be followed by single-digit temps.....

Thanks! It took some extra work, but I think it was worth it.

We got hit pretty good yesterday, scooping snow this morning wasn't too fun. I might try my hand at a snow shelter overnight now that we have enough. Should be interesting!

Thanks for the comment!

It was very peaceful. I just started using a tarp, otherwise usually I construct a small shelter, but this is so fast and easy. As you can see, only one pole and 4 stakes and she's solid, and of course you can set it up in a number of different ways as well. The one I use is only 7' x 10', and packs down really nice.

That was indeed the Globetrotter! Really trying to put it through its paces. It's handled everything I've thrown at it so far!

Thanks for the kind words. Take care!

Great video. Has that whole Survivorman thing happening.

Nice to see the Globetrotter in use as well.

 great camera angles. Love the demonstration of a few kinds of grips on the knife while making the pegs and spoons.

You don't really say too much tho ;)

Thanks! Its a handy knife if I may say so. Looking forward to doing more videos like this and hopefully with a few different knives too! 👍

Thank you. I will be doing plenty more like this! Can't wait for spring to get into foraging, but I still got plenty of snow to enjoy first.

I like the calm of the woods, so I don't talk a whole lot when I'm out. I will try to get a few words in every now and then though I suppose. Haha.

Thanks for the comment!

Sooo.... let me get this straight.

You carry a lever gun, have a gorgeous German Shepard, design knives, and look like Ragnar Lothbrok...

That settles it. You're the man. Plain and simple.

Looked like a lot of fun, and some great "mental floss".

I've not had the chance to do a winter camping trip in a long time (heck, any camping trip). So its fun to see someone go out and get some dirt time.

Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.

Lol. I don't know about 'the man', but I definitely can't complain about my job. I love what I do, and I'm very thankful that I can do it for a living. German Shepherds and Lever guns just sweeten then deal. Haha.

Thanks for the comment 👍

It certainly was. Always nice to get out and clear the mind.

I hope that you can get out soon, but if not I should be doing another video soon. If you can't get to the woods, I will bring the woods to you via video 👍

Thank you!

I really enjoyed the video. It made me want to get out and about even more than I did already.

Glad to see you around these parts of the internets. I really like seeing your work pop up in my Instagram feed. The Globetrotters, both custom and Ka-Bar, look like real handy blades. I can't wait to get my mitts on one or the other.

Happy to be here!

Thank you for the kind words and the comment, Sir.
