My four year old son and I did an overnighter towards the back of our property last night now that the weather is getting a little cooler. This morning we went for a hike on a near by river. It was a great time.

Looks like you guys had a good time, good on ya for getting your son outdoors, its a dying trend unfortunately.
 
I really like posts like this. I don't have kids yet but one day I look forward to taking them on trips similar to yours. That is a nice mod on the bk2 btw. I must have missed the thread on it if you posted it before. Looks very vintage.
 
Looks like a lot of fun. It's got to be great to be able to do this on your own property, too! Thanks for sharing.

Next weekend I'm heading out to a great state park with my son for some quiet time away, hiking, fishing, and good father-son time.

Awesome photo. I can't wait for my son to get to an age where I can take him out.
 
The finest hotel can't touch that set up. Beautiful spot and quality time.

Thanks fellers. Days like these are some of the best parts about being a father. I believe that the extra effort pays off tenfold as they become adults. I know that's the case with me and my Dad.

Thanks. I wish I could take credit for the mod but it was done by IneedaBandaid here on BF. He just graciously traded it back to me. A real class act, that guy. Original thread
 
I love what you've done with the handle on your BK-2, your 16 looks really nice too. Thanks for the pictures, always nice to see the little ones out and about!

Congrats on the wisdom of spending time with your boy, especially in the woods. One of my greatest regrets is not spending that kind of quality time with my son when he was little. He's 17 now and we just don't have much of a connection right now. But that's another topic.

My son is 7 months old and the wife and I are attempting to get a house going on some land we own. I can't wait til he's old enough to wander all day with me. Canteens, walking sticks, bug spray galore. Nice pics man, gets me all wistful.
