Browsing the web a few weeks ago I saw a folder with a blade much too big for the handle, so much so that when folded it looked like a fixed blade with about a third of the blade sticking out.
It came with a sheath and seemed to be designed as a small fixed blade knife that could be opened into a large folder.
Alas I've lost the link and cannot recall where I saw it, does anyone know of this design or the site?

Well I believe what you saw can best be described as a "hunting-dagger".
If you browse this website for a while (look at the Plegable knive) you will find a picture of a knife that fits the description you gave quite well:
http://www.aceros-de-hispania.com/esp/muela-cuchillos-lb.htm

I could be mistaken but that doesnt relly matter, there are a lot of cool pictures at that site anyway:cool:.

Thanks for that Buck - although the one I saw was smaller, a very modern, tactical design, and when closed appeared to be just a small fixed blade.

Could you be thinking of the Szabo RAD??? Here is a pic from Bladeart.com's website.

Totally off subject, but those Muelas are gorgeous!!!! Does anybody know what kind of steel is used on them?

Buzzbait -
I have a Muela - Fury & the only info I've found for type of steel is ....molibdenum - vanadium stainless (Rockwell 56-58) product of Spain. So far it seems to be a decent product! Hope this helps.

That Szabo RAD is a BEATIFUL knife overall......

I think I will work on owning one of those beauties after I am able to get a Crawford KFF in all Damascus (Blade and Handle).... :D :D

When I first got my Muela Ranger I got the same message as Clydetz, however I have heard that it should be some kind of 440-series-steel.
The muela is a real beater-knife I have put mine through hell; stabbing, chopping, prying etc..
And the best part is that they are very cheap. Many hunters in Denmark even prefer these knives over a Buck knife (dont know why).
