Own a BK62? How about a CPK Kephart? Sheath compatibility.

Hey all,
Not sure if this has been brought up before so I thought I'd mention it and post some pics (of course). The other day I wondered if the BK62 would fit the CPK Kephart standard kydex sheath. Sure enough it does! Almost as if it was designed to do so! Just like the CPK, the BK62 fits perfectly with no rattle. Now, I do have Ka-Bar micarta scales on my 62 but from my experience there is no difference in size between them and the stock wood. The scales between the two Kepharts are executed differently because the 62 has a tapered tang, but they are both near exact the same width. I'm assuming the CPK would fit in the stock leather sheath because of this, but I don't have one on hand to try. Perhaps someone who does can give it a shot and report back? I'm also going to post this in the CPK forum in case those who frequent there but not here can be in the know! What prompted this is a recent thread in GKD where a fellow was looking for an all around fixed blade and ended up with a CPK Kephart but was also considering a BK62, and still needed a second knife. Sheath comparability seems like a heck of a good reason to own both to me!

These two make a marvelous pair!

What a smokin' hot pair!
Thanks for the info.
BTW, the '62 fits perfectly in a Tweener sheath too.
Ah yes. That is how one of mine came from a fellow forum member, if I remember correctly. An underrated, versatile, and well made nylon sheath in a sea of really bad ones from many companies.

Yes, the CPK Kephart will fit great in the 62 leather sheath. It isn't the highest quality of leather and will stretch a bit but I don't think that will be any cause for concern - the dimensions on the two knives are so similar.

Thanks for confirming!

Craytab, the BK62 with micarta handles looks mighty good in that kydex sheath.

Great blend of traditional and modern.

OOOoooh... I REALLY like that ~4" orange-ish micarta w/ pins model. Who made that one? Does it say Siegle?? Didn't know he was doing such a faithful Kephart! Looks awesome.

It’s beaut, isn’t it? I think Bill did a terrific job on this, staying true to form, despite lengthening the handle and broadening the blade a bit. I’ve been wanting Bill to make me one forever and last I heard, he didn’t have the material in to make me one.

This one is on loan from FAL'ER FAL'ER , who graciously allowed me to check it out for a time.

I have one made by Azwelke that the 62 lives in permanently. I'm really happy with it as well.

The CPK is too thick to fit in that one though. Despite the CPK being thicker than the 62, it cuts very similarly because of the grind Nathan did. It is one all-around and robust knife for sure!
