Last Sunday I took a couple safe queens and one user with me for a drive in the Owyhee Mountains south of Boise. I went looking for an old mining town that I was told about by one of the curators at the Silver City Hotel. What sparked my curiosity is there is an old cemetary up there called Fairview Cemetary. When I asked what the cemetary was for, I was told it was for the old town of Fairview that burned to the ground a long time ago. I found the site of the old town and all that is left is the old mill. There were a lot of old fashioned nails, broken plates and glass bottles. Even found an old button in the rubble. Figured Skunk would certainly find this interesting.

Old town of Fairview used to be here. The mine and mill are in this photo.

I would have kept exploring, but a storm that wasn't supposed to hit until later that night came rolling in. Since I was in my Jeep Wrangler with only a bikini top on, I figured I'd better get off the mountain!

Wow those are some really cool pics and a history lesson too. Thanks for sharing looks like an awesome outing.

Awesome pictures. Brings back a lot of memories of some beautiful country.

When my wife first went into the US Public Health Service 23 years ago her first duty station was the Duck Valley Indian Reservation in Owyhee, Nevada, just south of where you were.

When she told people she was being stationed in Owyhee they would go "Oh Hawaii, thats wonderful, we will fly over and visit you. Which island will you be on?"

Fabulous pics, Woodrat. How about some more pics of the Rubicon? Would it be an '06 with everything on it including the 6 speed?

Those are some great pics.

Thanks for sharing:)

Sorry for the slow response guys, but my internet connection at home is not working so well, so I'm doing this at the office really quick. Attached are some photos of my Jeep. 2005 Unlimited Rubicon Sahara edition. They only made 1000 of these (fashioned after the jeep seen in the movie Sahara with Mathew McConaughey). It has the in-line 6 with a 6 speed manual. Lockable front and rear axels (in low range only). Dana 44s'. It is dead stock as it came from the factory, except for the bikini top I added. I bought it used from a couple who kept it stored in their airplane hangar...had 6500 miles on it when I got it. Has less than 10k on it now. Here are some pics.

This is also in the Owyhees, but it was taken in May of this year. This was steeper than it looks in this photo. First time I had ever really used low range....climbs like a mountain goat.

This was also taken last October. It still has the chrome grill on it at that point, but I took it off because I thought it was a little flashy.

This was taken in the mountains just outside of Boise in May - using my iPhone.
