I received my new large Scott Cook Owyhee in snakewood from 2thehilt (thanks Phil!) yesterday and she's a beautie. I was downstairs in the knife/smoking area (my wife smokes, I do not) talking to her after she got home from work when she mentioned the large box on the counter and asked what came in THAT? My wife is not very understanding of my knife habit and said "I thought we agreed to cut down on our spending, when did you order it???" I quickly said Monday and thank goodness we had our little agreement on Tuesday. Anyway I lifted up my shirt tail and pointed to the Owyhee, took it out and she exclaimed "that's a nice knife". If my wife approves it MUST be a really nice knife!!!
The grinds on this blade are very clean and symetrical, fit and finish are very good. I don't own that many customs so this may not be an unusual feature but the scales appear to be made from one piece as the grain continues from one side to the other, very nice. The edge is so sharp the hairs on my arm jumped off just from the sight of the blade
It's the S30v steel by the way. I haven't held the small version but the large is not to big at all IMHO, just right. I also liked the little braided leather tail, it really helps in extracting the knife from the sheath (which is also top notch).
On the down side... I saw one on BladeArt with Giraffe bone the day after I ordered mine - oooh is that one purdy.
