I figuared this was the forum and the guy to ask. I've been searching about the oxy clean method for my new benchmade 630. Great knife but hate the green and I like the natural dark gray look better. From what I've been searching, it seems you take the knife apart, and mix oxy clean with hot tap water and let it sit? Does that sound right?

I have never heard of this so I have no idea. Sorry. I'm out of the loop on this or what the oxy clean is supposed to do. Not even sure what it is to be honest.

I believe he's referring to a process such as what's described in the threads linked below.

However, this was done to put a contrasting pattern on plain non-anodized titanium. I think you may need to do something else, like beadblasting, to get the color off your Skirmish handles that are already fully anodized.

Thanks my friend. I do know a bit about bead blasting.

To the original poster: If you do the bead blasting yourself be sure to tape off the parts using something that holds good. Some masking tape simply blasts off if its not good stuff. I use duct tape usually because it stays put and although the sticky can be a pain to remove without oil or acetone its well worth it for not getting blasted off the folder if you happen to hit a spot at an angle instead of coming straight down on top of it with the nozzle blast.
