G'Day,Is anyone familiar with this style Bowie? and please direct me to any previous links describing this knife? Currently Au$25 =US$18.25. Many thanks for any help mates. Hoo Roo from Oz.

The picture for the sale of the knife has a distinct taper toward the pommel. the picture of the "same" knife on the flyer appears to have a straight handle (no taper). I would not think it is likely that Schrade would tool up for two different handle shapes, but I suppose it is possible. The lack of Schrade marking also causes me to wonder although his expaination is believeable because Schrade did leave off the Schrade identification for some customers Ie: Sears craftsman. Back to the difference in handles. The flyer says the knife is unmarked, but did come in a Schrade box with Schrade papers. Unforunately the one for sale does not have that provenance. It might be worth a $25.00 gamble to me, but not much more.

It looks like some of the ones that were posted here, but the search engine is now working now.

I don't remember the handle distinctions that Paul pointed out. He may very well be right. But, as I recall from a conversation with LT he said there were some made by Schrade that did not have any markings.

Here is one of LT's pics that I saved. Does it look like the one on ebay?

It's a Schrade, I have one and it's unmarked too. LT had said that the knife was made for several different offerings and that they were not stamped on the tang, but were etched for whatever they were going to be used for, whenever they were finished.

Smith & Wesson made a very similar knife to commemorate the Texas Rangers and it had a straighter handle. I don't think anyone is going to get this knife for $25.00, more like $100.00.

Looks like the knnife they used for the Sam Colt commemorative and the Pearl Harbor commemorative(though this one had a stag handle), only without the markings. Maybe they're leftover blanks?

Thanks mates for all the info, very accurate as usual. A mate just emailed me and said a Colt Commemorative Item#170029699857 just sold on Ebay for US$280.56. Am I right in presuming that they are neither rare or old as the Oz Ebay item suggests? One thing seems certain about Schrade markings or the lack of them...you can never be certain..I guess thats part of the fascination we all share? Hoo Roo from Downunder

Larry303,
I took a closer look at the pics posted on the auction & see that it appears he has a pic of the Schrade Bowie mixed in with the pics of the S & W. The Schrade is the one that has the Cutlers Cove name. Hummmm.....I wonder which knife he is selling?
