Ozark Trail Hatchet (video review)

ChattanoogaChop,

Thanks for posting. Chattanooga is a great town, but I've never had time to look at thrift stores, yard sales, etc. around there. Do you know of any stores that sell old tools, etc.? Might be some good old axe and hatchet heads laying around. I'd like to check some of these places out next time down there.

Bought one of these based on that video and I must say it's not bad. $11.99 + tax and came out of the package REALLY sharp! Not for heavy duty use of course but for chopping kindling and something that's extremely lightweight I like it.

The cool flea market-type places aren't really operating because of covid, but there are still a couple of interesting places to browse. We have a really neat military surplus/relics store; Brainerd Army/Navy . Also the Dollar Plus store in East Ridge sells a lot of different cheap, fun stuff like 5 dollar machetes, ropes, gloves, etc.

. I think one has to maintain reasonable expectations in relation to cost, but I thought it was worth the money for sure

Indeed; it's hard not to have fun when I'm chopping stuff

It sure is, and after you start seeing those chips fly while bucking a fallen log, I bet you'll like it even more. Do you ever go to Prentiss Cooper Stare Forest? Just thinking about there likely being downed trees for practice. Next time I'm in town, I hope those flea markets are open for hunting down some axes.
