Gents,

What PB Washer folder do you like? I have a large Inkosi, and want something a little bigger and a little easier to open (ie thumstuds are not as tactile as spydie hole, thumb disk, etc).

Besides a Spartan Harsey Folder, what other knife (3.7-4” blade) with Pb washers, perfect fit/finish and USA made do you recommend?

On washers I have good experience with :
- My CRKs
- A gen 4 non flipper XM-18 3.5 running on large PB washers
- single detent recent EKI (A100 and CQC-7) - not PB here and not the best F&F but worth mentioning ;)
- my TRM Atom
- most of my slydercos. My Spydiechef and GB2 are great is you don’t like compression lock

but just like you I would like to give a try to an SHF at some point in the future

Does your non-flipper XM-18 Feel like a purpose built non-flipper? I mean, does it feel like a flipper that just had the flipper tab ground off, or is there more to it’s design and execution?

My non flipper XM is really a non flipper knife
The detent is right
I can slow roll it, flick it or middle finger flick it

The Benchmade crooked river is my favorite 4" USA made knife running on PB washers. You should check out Southern Grind's Bad Monkey too, I have the smaller spider monkey, and it has an awesome action on PB washers.

Pardon an ignorant question. I'm a chemist. To me Pb is lead. I can't imagine lead being used as knife washers. What does Pb mean in this thread's context?

Phosphor bronze

Very good question! I am the ignorant one. Phosphor Bronze is what I was trying to abbreviate, but lazily I did not capitalize and punctuate (i.e. should be P.B.). Just corrected title...

The umnumzaan is just slightly under 3.7, its 3.68. I love it.

I had one, but found it hard to deploy since there was not much room between the thumb stud and the frame. Maybe it was my technique...cool looking blade.

I think its technique. The zaan is the easiest to flick among all my CRKs. Zaan --> Sebbie --> Inkosingo. But i learned to not flick them anymore. Slow roll is more addictive

Edit: Use the top of your thumb nail to flick it forwards or up.

With the Umnumzaan, it's a technique issue. Just push the thumb stud forward, not out.

Umnumzaan...That may be the case. Though, I do personally prefer constant thumb pressure (ie a slow roll, sped up) when flinging a blade open. I found it hard to do that with the Umnum...

Definitely not ideal for that. If you can control the detent, you can open it that way, however.

I love both of my crooked rivers, they are excellent knives. The Contego is great too (mine is the m390 version) but discontinued.

And the answer is...
