Hello, I am new to this site and not sure where I should post my question. I hope someone can help me. I have a P.Holmber Barrel Knife made in Eskilstuna Sweden. I have seen many pictures of knives very similar but not exactly the same as the one that I have. It is a fixed blade and the blade measure 3.5 inched from the tip to the handle. There is approx. 1 inch of the blade near the handle that has not been ground to the same thickness as the rest of the blade. This is where the name of the maker and the area of Sweden where the knife was made. The thick area has been ground to approx. a 45 degree angle and measures approx 7/8 of an inch long. Can anyone shed any light as to the purpose of the knife having the short area ground at approx. a 45 degree angle. Any information as to the approx. age would be greatly appreciated. The blade, the handle and the sheath are in very good condition. Thanks
