Hi Andy and all,

Anyone have info on the design philosophy of the P series (P1 and P2) as a start, like what the P stands for and how it fits into the work of the forge?

If you’ve used a Fiddleback Forge P series knife, also interested in perspectives at first glance it looks like it could be in the recluse family?

The guy you want to talk to is VANCE VANCE

So the P1 and P2 are PATTERNS that Andy is selling the rights to through Pop's Knife Supply. Basically it is for beginning to intermediate knifemakers to have a knife pattern to make so they don't get bogged down in the design process and can instead focus on the skills to make a good knife.

The P1 and P2 that Andy made were the prototypes of that design, made in order to give a physical example of what that pattern looks like when finished. So we've only sold 1 of each so far that were actually made by Andy. I don't know if Andy has plans to make more of them, or if the idea is to have exclusive patterns only available to Pop's customers (ie. other knife-makers).

Dusty, an apprentice at Pop's, has also made a P1 and P2 as well. They are under his brand name, Duckhead Forge. I believe his P1 and P2 are still available on FiddlebackForge.com/family

Thank you. There is a very nice P1 on the site right now. Looks like a very functional design and somewhere in between the older patterned Patch Knife and Recluse.
