P38

They are on that big website that's named after the South American river. [I love using code language that the moderators can't decipher].

I asked becasue I couldn't remember ever seeing an ad for them ! I wouldn't buy it unless it said STAINLESS . I, at least can tell if it's stainless by looking since I'm a metallurgist but I wouldn't trust a photo !!

This one looks stainless. :D

Ok, you've got my curiosity peaked... Why stainless, and how can you tell by looking? I've been using them for years (both sizes), and mine are definitely NOT stainless, but I'm wondering if there's something I should know about now... :D Thanks!

I've had this one for years. Not stainless. No reason for it to be. Same with the openers on many of my scout knives.

Most of these are not stainless.

Been carrying this one in my wallet ever since my army days, and it's been great in spite of not being stainless. After 50 years, it still works great. Why do you insist on stainless, just out of curiosity?

I happen to be a metallurgist , soooo .Unless you can suggest another metal. Unobtanium is out cause it's 'unobtainable' !! LOL

I'm no metallurgist, I just use stuff and from my experience the little P-38 works very well in whatever it's made out of. They are cheap enough, you should buy one or a couple and try them out. They also make decent screw drivers, mini pry tools, scraper, and other jobs pretty well. Very versatile piece of gear to have on ya.

I think stainless steel is over rated for some things.

Why stainless? The P38 has been perfectly fine and fit for its purpose for decades without being stainless.

You know where this is headed, don't you? Sprint Run P38's in S35VN and Aogami Super Blue with an MSRP of $138.00.

S35VN ? My favorite of the CPM steels .I'd take a couple of pair of P38 and P51 openers !

Jackknife, there are a few makers here who use S35VN for commercial fishermen for fileting knives. Good reports on that.

iSaur, I'll match you and raise you one --a P61 ! Does anyone make a P61 can opener ??
