Love the Pachthar.

How big is it?

There's an 8" version going towards Bali now. It's an overdue gift for my friend there.

:)

Seeing the size difference may I ask how hard is it to swing repeatedly the AKB?

Lovin the grinds of the AKB :)

Again the Pactha, is the handle too small?

Just imagining recently how would the AKB or CAK fare in destructive tests like the ones done in knifetests.com. Would give me a warm feeling when the tester breaks instead of the test blades :)

Well I can still swing a hammer pretty much all day So I say not bad.

The Pachtha is more like a letter opener or box opener.

Maybe you can use it as a paring knife.

Nice pix, thank you for sharing

I just got my 13" Pachthar and I like it a lot. I think they should make more of the "small" khuks as not all of their customer base are ham fisted Paul Bunyan types. The handle is a little on the small side for heavy chopping but that's not what this blade is for anyway. It's a light fast wickedly pointy knife which should be good for most camp duties.

Anybody else notice that the scabbard has markings etched into the wood. I'm curious if the sarkis have their own version of kami marks.

  for Paul Bunyan remark!!! :p

Those marks on the wood scabbard are Devanagiri for "Panchthar" the area where these khukuris are probably from. Panchthar is a district in easternmost Nepal bordering the Indian Himalayan region of Sikkim and Darjeeling (where I'm originally from, btw): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panchthar_District
