Pacific Cutlery-Barry Woods Folder

A question for the many on the forum. I have a Pacific Cutlery folder which was packed away at least 15 years. It is NOT a balisong.I bought it as I was intrigued by the design and curious to see if I could manipulate it with one hand. I never could figure out a quick technique and packed it away. Its a production folder made by Pacific Cutlery of a Barry Woods swing out handle type folder. The handles are solid but designed to look at first glance as if they have holes in them.Anyone have any idea of its value( mint in box)?

I had one and liked it pretty good and had been looking to get another, the AG Russell Cutting Edge catalog sometimes had them with a price around the $60 dollar mark. The last issue had some that were straight from Barry Wood pre-Pacific Cutlerly and they are selling a lot higher, but they are customs from Wood himself.

I don't have a solution,

But I admire your problem.

$50 if it has a mint box with it.
I've seen a couple a bit lower in the past year, some a but higher. $50 is an average-

Thanks for the info.fellas.
Gary-I just went to home home page and was very impressed with your sheaths. How expensive are they and would be interested in a trade for the folder?

Tim - I sent the e-mail again to this address - tdennis2@go.com. Please disregard anything that Gary Graley says. He's only joking when he says that he wants that knife.

Hi Kelly!

It looks like Gary and I both get our wish. A very gracious forumite has offered to sell me one of his stainless PC/Wood swing-lockers.

Senator,
That is good news because I can't give up this opportunity to get one of Gary's sheaths.

Gary,
I'll send you an email soon and I am delighted we can "trade".The folder and box are in brand new condition.
This is such a well made knife I am puzzled why Pacific Cutlery went under?

BTW - Tim, I know you'll love Gary's work. He's made me a sheath for a small Sebenza and one for my SwissTool. His work is top-notch. You'll not find a better leather worker than Gary.

I also had the privelege of spending a weekend with him at this year's Blade Show. He's a great person as well.

2sharp-the knife I'm sending Gary looks almost the same as the picture Senator posted with some differences;
The blade shape is slightly different The manual in the box states it is 440C stainless, not ATS-34 like the custom. And of course it is not a custom made folder.
The photo however does not show what makes the folder so unique, its opening method. Its almost like a sideways butterfly knife with the handles both opening up.

Senator-Yes I look foward to getting the sheath. My son is a freshman in college and belongs to an outdoors club, hiking, canoe trips, etc.I just bought a SAK adventurer and am going to have a sheath made for it and it will make a great and useful present. One way to show I'm proud of him.
